anessa Marano checks into Seattle Grace Hospital tonight when she guest stars on a new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.”

In “The Girl with No Name,” the doctors work on a Jane Doe, who turns out to be the subject of a case that gained national interest; Cristina proves to be the highest in demand as the residents begin their interviews for post-residency positions at prospective hospitals; and Richard is faced with an unsettling realization when he visits Adele at Rose Ridge.

We had the chance to chat with Vanessa about her experience on the show.

Can you tell us little about the episode you’re guest starring on and your character? My character is based off of the real life kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard. She’s found in the woods, abused and deeply disturb. Through the course of the episode, she bonds with one person: Meredith Grey.

Were you a fan of Grey’s Anatomy before landing the role? Yes. Cried very hard when Denny died.

What was the most challenging part of playing this character? Well, I think it’s wrapping your head around playing someone who has been raped and locked in a basement for all of her childhood; however, still found a way to be strong. A lot of people believe that you have to draw on real life experiences in acting, but you can’t in this situation. I read Jaycee’s book right before shooting, but reading, even her own words, is incomparable to actually going through that torture.

What was the cast like to work with? Great. Everyone was very nice. They are a well oiled machine over there, but I suppose that comes from being on the air for eight years.
